Happy Fall Y’all!!

Finally, we have some cooler days that make me think football, hot chocolate, changing leaves and of course pumpkin spice everything!

We have started hosting day classes at Quilt Shop #2, making a bucket hat, learning to sew, learning to quilt, sew a jelly roll table runner, and three classes to make different tote bags. If you cannot attend this fall, some will be repeated at the start of the year.  Typically, they are on Tuesday and Saturdays. If you have class requests, please let Michelle know.

We also host weekday and weekend retreats with Quiltworx Certified Instructor Nancy Kloster, three times a year. Quilts of Valor retreats are also scheduled three times a year, with quilt presentations to four veterans on Tuesday nights of each retreat. Mandy Manno, advanced certified Laura Heine collage quilter, will be teaching three one-day classes, or you can stay for the week and take all three.

It’s time to put all those Michigan Shop Hop purchases for the past three years to use! Check our website or call the office to see what dates are available for a retreat.  For every week and weekend retreats, we don’t have a minimum number for your group to reserve a location.  If there are two of you who want to get away, that is fine.  However, remember if you don’t have a full house, we may add another small group with you.  But keep in mind, you won’t be sharing your bedroom with a group you don’t know.  Each group has their own bedrooms.

Happy Quilting, Scrapbooking, Diamond Dotting, Knitting, Crocheting and all the other crafty things we do,

Laura G

Barb's Missing Belongings

The recent found items have found their owners!  Please be mindful and check behind you for your and friends items.  Rulers are very common.  Recommend putting an address label on any items so we can find the owner!  This a just a partial of item guests have asked us to hold onto til their next visit.

Sew What's Cooking? With Jenn

As we settle into the harvest of autumn, let's make some delightful ...

Glazed Apple Cookies

Ingredients

1 1/3 cups packed brown sugar

1/2 cup butter

1 large egg

2 cups sifted all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground cloves

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

1 cup apples - peeled, cored, and finely diced

1 cup raisins

1/4 cup milk

1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners sugar

1 tablespoon butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla

2 1/2 tablespoons half-and-half cream

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F ( 200 degrees C)

Step 2

Beat brown sugar and butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy: beat in the egg until combined

Step 3

Combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg in a seperate bowl

Step 4

Stir 1/2 of the flour mixture into the brown sugar mixture. Stir in nuts, apples, and raisins, then stir in remaining flour mixture and milk. Mix well

Step 5

Drop spoonfuls of dough 2 inches apart onto the baking sheets. Bake in the preheated oven until edges are golden, about 10 to 12 minutes. Remove cookies to cool slightly while you make the glaze.

Step 6

To make the glaze: Beat powered sugar, butter, vanilla, and enough cream to make the glaze spreading consistencty. Spread or drizzle on warm cookies.

ENJOY!!!
