Laura's Corner
Hey Friends!
Now that the 2-month All-Michigan Shop Hop has finished, we can take a deep breath, take a long nap, and catch up on anything we are running behind on with the normal day-to-day routine. A big thank you to our team in the Quilt Shop, Michelle, Deb, Janice, Delaney and Maryn who greeted close to 2,000 Shop Hoppers, in addition to our normal Retreat guests, with smiles on their faces and the patience of a saint. Luckily Barb, Rebecca, Lydia and Diane have been keeping it all together in the Retreat office! We are like a well-oiled machine here and we couldn’t do it without everyone from the Quilt Shop, Retreat office, Breakfast, Cleaning and Luggage Teams! I am so thankful for each and every one of them, and hope you are too! Stay Creative, Laura

Barb's Garden
I live in the country with many weeds and things that want to eat my plants! I feel not enough time, money or a strong enough back that can conquer all of them! So day lilies and hostas are favorites to grow. I am fortunate to live near Lisiks Day Lily farm, where you can pick out your favorites in a field and get a bag for super reasonable prices! I believe I have over 20 varieties.

Diane's Book Nook
The Time Between by Karen White tells the stories of two pairs of sisters, each crippled in their own ways. One set was young, one older. Oh, the lessons they learn from one another as life's demands take them back and forth through art and music. Great history retold here too.
I loved this passage, "Age was a thief, an insidious one who instead of robbing you at night while you slept took all your possessions one by one and forced you to watch." It makes me want to stay busy and quilt more while I can!

Lydia's Recomendations
Movies: Superman- A well done take on a classic Superman story. A fun movie with action, suspense and a bit of humor thrown in. Video games: Donkey Kong Bananza- a brilliantly crafted 3D platformer where everything is destructible. A fun story, adorable characters and addictive gameplay make Donkey Kong Bananza on of the best games of 2025. Podcast: The Villain Was Right- 2 comedians argue why the villain of your favorite movies was right all along. Very funny, always good for a laugh.
Your pal, Lydia
2026 Rate Increase Reminder
Beginning January 1, 2026, our retreat rates will be updated to reflect the rising costs we all face. Whether you're staying Monday–Thursday or Friday–Sunday, the new rate will be $185 per person. Optional early arrivals on Sunday or Thursday nights will remain $30 per person.
For the past 20 years, December has had a discounted rate — but starting in 2026, all months will share the same rate structure.
We’ve worked hard to keep our retreat affordable, but like your homes, our expenses have gone up too. From utilities to building repairs and materials, everything costs more these days. We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we make this necessary change.

2026 Reservations Dates are Live
Looking ahead? All 2026 retreat dates are now on our calendar and available on our website. We encourage you to check your group’s dates now so you can plan ahead with confidence.
Please note: We do not control where holidays fall, and this can shift your usual weekend. For example, if January 1st lands on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, your weekend may be pushed back — and that affects the calendar for the entire year. Also, Easter fluctuates between late March and early April, which can impact retreats scheduled during that window.
We’ll always do our best to accommodate and communicate any necessary adjustments.
