November Newsletter

Laura's Corner

Every week and weekend we get to see all the fun you ladies (and a few gentlemen) have and we decided we need to have at least one fun day ourselves!  The week of Thanksgiving we do not have guests staying in the retreats until Thursday night, so we are having an office retreat on Monday, November 25!!  We will be doing Facebook lives throughout the day for you to see our fun projects!

I really enjoy seeing your projects, whether quilting, scrapbooking, paper crafts, knitting/crocheting, beading, needle arts or watercolor painting, I enjoy them all!  Thank you for inspiring me to work on things I started sometime in the past 20 years, but haven’t finished.

Speaking of 20 years, 2025 will be our 20-year anniversary at CP1!  We are beginning to plan a celebration for the Saturday of Father’s Day weekend with a building tour, food and fun, and specials at the Quilt Shop.  We hope you have a chance to stop by for it.

The weather makes it hard to believe it is November.  Normally we get at least flurries before Halloween, but nothing so far here in Chesaning.  I love the snow and cannot wait for piles of it to arrive.  You will see me on Facebook doing my “Snow Dance” periodically, no hate mail please, I just love the white stuff!

Have a wonderful month!

Selena's Scoop

Fall has arrived according to the fallen leaves but the temperatures continue to confuse us.  Just when I think it's time for soup the sun comes out and calls me a liar but then the next day it's chilly.  How is one to prepare for that, I don't think you can.  I just know that soon enough, those warm Indian Summer days will be behind us and soup will be what's for dinner. Here's a family favorite that can be made spicier if you like it and can be made even easier by buying a rotisserie chicken and pulling the meat from that. I'm not big on measuring when making soup but here is a rough idea.

3-4 cups shredded Cooked chicken
2 cans cheese soup
1 box chicken broth
1 can drained corn
1 can rinsed black beans
2 cans petite diced tomatoes
Cumin to taste
Chili powder to taste
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Mix all in the crockpot or big stock pot and heat through.
This soup is great as is but we like to top with Fritos. You can also top with cilantro, sour cream or shredded cheese.
Enjoy, it's sure to be a crowd pleaser.
