April Newsletter

Laura's Corner

Hi Ladies,

Welcome to Monday, the first day of the month, and the start of a new quarter!!  It’s a triple great day when you can restart your week, month, and quarter all on the same day.  Forget any bad days and start fresh!

This is the time of year that I am officially done with snow and ready for sunshine, how about you?  What is your favorite time of the year and temperature?  I love love snow, but May and June at about 70 degrees is perfect!

We always have something going on at one of our retreats or quilt shop.  April (when it isn’t raining or snowing) will be finishing the front façade of the quilt shop.  The last week of May will be pergolas outside at CP1 and CP3 to cut down on the brutal west sun throughout the summer. Hopefully this means you can use the grill and outdoor seating more. Of course, we are always fixing and adding small things inside the buildings too!

If you have kids in school this is the busiest time of the year as they finish up, take field trips, do spring sports and you get things ready for summer events and vacations.  Remember to take time for yourself, whatever that activity might be: exercise, walk to the end of the driveway, sip coffee outside in the morning, read a book, you pick it!  Take care of yourself first!

Happy April,

Laura

 Tamara's Tidbits

Hello friends! If you don't already know, we recently changed our Availability Page on our website. Instead of seeing it in a table format, we have made it much simpler to use. It is organized by dates, and the locations you see that are available. If you don't see the date or location you're looking for, it's because it is not available. This page is updated daily.

When you want to book a new reservation with us, you will need to call us in the office to do so. We handle these personally so that we can ensure you are in the right location and dates to fit your groups needs.

And when you call in to make a payment or have your group members do so, please know the date you're arriving, the location, and whose name the reservation is under. You'd be surprised as to how often we take calls from guests who don't have all of that information! We want to make sure we put you with the correct group and dates so that you show up to the correct location. Between the suites and bigger locations, we have 12 locations to choose from! Guests who haven't been here before don't realize that.

Once a payment is made, we email the guest a reservation packet that includes a receipt and information about the location they're staying at. We want our guests to be prepared for their stay with us.

Also, if you have changed phone numbers or email addresses, please let us know. We want our records to be up to date so that we can send you the latest information.

As always, if you ever have any questions, please give us a call! We'd be more than happy to help you with your questions, concerns, or finding that perfect retreat spot.

Selena's Scoop

How is it possible that April is upon us already?  We just wrapped up the Easter weekend and man was it a good one.  However, I’m not sure about everyone else but the week leading up to a holiday means when I buy groceries, I only get the stuff I need for the particular holiday and then I’m left with just staples in the cupboards and refrigerator.  This is an easy recipe I stumbled across last month and the hubby and youngest son really seemed to enjoy it.  My middle even meal prepped it while at college and loved it and when I say it was easy, I’m not exaggerating.  Thankfully, the ingredients are things we always have on hand.  While the recipe doesn’t call for any veggies, I felt it needed it and added a bag of already chopped broccoli.  I simply made the pieces more uniform and added them in just before I was ready to serve.

Korean Beef

1lb lean ground beef, I used Venison and I’m sure you could use ground turkey

¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce

2 tbs brown sugar

½ cup diced onion

3 garlic cloves, minced

½ tsp fresh ginger, I use paste

½ tsp crushed rep pepper flakes, omit if you don’t like a little kick, add more if you like it spicy

1 tbs sesame oil

In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, onion, ginger, garlic and red pepper flakes.  Set aside.  In a skillet, brown your meat of choice in the sesame oil and drain if necessary.  At this time, return to stove, lower heat and add in your sauce and broccoli.  Cover and allow to steam to soften your broccoli for a few minutes or until desired tenderness.  We served ours over rice and let’s be clear, the Uncle Ben’s 90 second Basmati package is the perfect side for this as it’s delicious and speedy.
