Happy March Everyone!

Now that our Quilt Shop Renovations and Open House are complete, we feel like we can relax a bit. Thank you to all of you who came to our Open House days and shared your hugs and compliments with us; we needed them to refill our emotional cups! It has been a long 3 ½ months and especially the last two weeks. The façade of the Quilt Shop will be finished in a couple months when the weather gets consistently warmer and this project will be 100% complete!

On Monday we will get to work promoting and finalizing plans for our Inaugural Quilt Walk May 2-4 here in Chesaning. We are hoping to have 200 quilts to hang throughout our village. Since all quilts are inside businesses, the weather can do whatever it wants!! In a nutshell, the Quilt Walk will start at Riverfront Grille in the banquet room with kids, teens, larger-sized and antique quilts, as well as raffles, a vendor and a surprise quilter or two. If you would like to enter a quilt, please click HERE to get your registration form. If you are interested in supporting the Quilt Walk with a donation or volunteering, click HERE to fill out the form.

June and July will bring the All-Michigan Shop Hop to our state. You can pre-order the magazine and fabric on our website by clicking HERE. Magazines will mail out as soon as they arrive sometime in April. However, fabric cannot leave our shop before June 1.

Enjoy the sunshine before winter comes back!

In an effort to make our Availability Page easier to navigate, we have completely changed it! What you now will see is ONLY WHAT IS AVAILABLE for each location and date. It is sorted into both 2024 and 2025, and is organized by dates, showing which are weekday and weekend retreats. We hope that this change will make it easier for you to find an opening to visit one of our retreats. You can find the all new page HERE.

We do have a waiting list and when a group cancels, we do go through our waiting list before updating it to our calendar. Please know that openings in the Fall are extremely difficult to come by.

If you ever have questions or need help finding a spot, give us a call in the office at 989-845-2159.

Selena's Scoop

March has arrived and with it beautiful weather. This weather makes me think of backyard BBQ’s, potlucks and grilling. All of those make me think of salads and grilling. Just a few short years ago, I was introduced to Thai food and realized that I love Chicken Pad Thai. Let’s be very clear, probably not the healthiest of options but those flavors just kind of burst in your mouth. How could you possible make this dish healthy, by turning it into a salad full of cole slaw mix. Now, I haven’t had this salad before but I’m excited to try it with all of you ladies.

Ingredients

· 1 pound coleslaw mix

· 3 cups shredded cooked chicken

· 1/4 cup scallions chopped

· 1 red bell pepper chopped

· 1/2 cup chopped peanuts

· Small handful fresh cilantro chopped (optional but recommended)

· Small handful fresh basil sliced thin or torn (optional)

· Salt & pepper to taste

Dressing:

· 5 tablespoons creamy peanut butter, see note

· 3 tablespoons water or more as needed

· 2 tablespoons soy sauce

· 1 tablespoon lime juice

· 1 tablespoon honey

· 1/2 teaspoon pure sesame oil, see note

· 1 teaspoon fresh ginger grated

· 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

1. Add the dressing ingredients to a medium-sized bowl and whisk together until smooth. Taste and adjust (e.g. add more lime juice or honey). If your dressing comes out really thick (peanut butter brands can vary), add even more water than suggested.

2. Prep all the salad ingredients and them add to a large bowl. Toss with the dressing and serve immediately. Season with salt & pepper as needed.

Notes

· It’s not recommended to use natural peanut butter for this recipe as the flavors and texture can be a bit off. I would use it sparingly and then taste and adjust the dressing as needed.

· Use the sesame oil found in the Asian section of the grocery store. It’s got quite a strong/nutty flavor. It’s darker in color and sometimes you’ll find it labeled as toasted sesame oil. I just buy whichever brand is in stock.

· You don’t need to add the cilantro or basil, but they definitely add extra flavor and freshness.
