Laura's Corner

Hey Creative Passions Friends!

Well, warm weather has finally arrived!  Mother Nature’s husband must have been driving, thought he knew a short cut, got lost, refused to stop and ask for directions, finally listened to her and they arrived to give us a few nice days at the end of May. Now that warmer weather is here to stay, I hope your summertime plans include lots of relaxing!

With guests at our retreats almost every day of the year, it is difficult to schedule renovations and general maintenance, without inconveniencing a few groups.  Please know that we do our best to schedule around reservations as much as possible, but sometimes a project takes longer or has to be rescheduled.

This week we had Stanley Steemer at all four locations to clean out air ducts, bathroom exhaust fans and dryer ductwork.  It took multiple teams and trucks three days to get all four buildings cleaned.

This week started the siding and insulation project at CPRC, which will last probably 2-3 weeks.  Scheduling to remove siding, 2nd company comes in to blow-on insulation, back to 1st company to add plywood, plastic sheeting and new siding on such a large area is quite the task.  Remember Mother Nature wasn’t around in April or early May to make it easier on us.  Anyway, we are in the first week of the project and will keep you updated!

Thanks for your patience while we continue to make improvements to be the best we can be!!

Thankful for all of you,

Laura

 Tamara's Tidbits

With summer coming up, many of us are taking vacations, long weekend trips, and enjoying the sunshine. We understand life happens and sometimes last minute events come up. If you need to cancel your reservation, please be kind and let us know as soon as possible so that we can open up your spot for a new reservation. We can cancel your reservation one year only and still keep you on the calendar for 2024.

Here is our cancellation policy:

If you cancel your reservation 30 or more days in advance, you can receive a refund minus a $20 cancellation fee or you can forward your full amount towards a future retreat to be used within 18 months. Forwarding is done one time only. If you cancel your reservation less than 30 days in advance, you can find a replacement who then would pay you, or, you can forward your full amount towards a future retreat to be used within 18 months. Forwarding is done one time only. If you are not able to come at the last minute and DO NOT call to let us know, before your weekend, you will lose your payment. It is impossible for us to keep track of a missed weekend if we do not know you did not come.

Also, please note that our rates are now $165 effective as of January 1, 2023. The rate for your weekday or weekend retreat increased by $15, but the early arrival rate did stay the same at $30,

Have a wonderful summer!!!!

Selena's Scoop

The warmer weather has finally hit us and no one wants to turn on their oven but what if it was early in the morning before the heat hits and what if it was for monkey bread?  I feel like it's never to hot to turn on the oven for monkey bread.  This is my tried and true recipe for monkey bread.

2 cans of flaky Grands Biscuits

½ cup of sugar

1 tbs cinnamon

I use a 1 gallon Ziploc bag and place my sugar and cinnamon in there and give a good shake.  Cut the biscuits into 6 pieces and place in the bag that contains your sugar and cinnamon mixture.

Generously spray a bundt pan with cooking spray. Empty your Ziploc of biscuits into the pan and spread the biscuits out evenly.

¾ cup butter, melted

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

Stir these together and pour over your biscuits

Bake in a 350 degree preheated oven for 30-40 minutes.  You want your biscuits to be cooked and not doughy but not hard on top either.  I like to then place a place on top and flip over for a pretty presentation.

I promise this is worth turning on the oven for.  Enjoy
